Nope. I do not want to get hurt. Too much to lose. And I officiate enough already. I cannot imagine playing too.

Peace

Last actual "game" I played in was several yrs ago in a father/son all-star game. 14yr old player (later went on to be all-league D-linemen) took me out on the endline.

ACL, MCL, Meniscus - buh-bye to my playing days! I'll stick with the stripes from now on!

I'll be 48 this May. I play once/twice a week and most times I'm the oldest player on the court. There was a period of time I stopped playing on the advice of other officials. But playing makes me happy and I'm very careful with what I do when I'm on the court. Since I'm no longer in a position where I NEED the income from officiating if I get injured it would just be an "oh well" moment.

Play noon Ball at the Y every other day.....I am 45 and have had meniscus repaired in my left knee....wear a brace when I play and when i ref. Don't play when I have to ref that night...can't do it anymore. Get a cortisone shot in my knee once every 4 months to keep it lubricated. Doctor says it is better to keep active rather than develop arthritis in my knee. Have an ALUMNI tourney coming up at the end of the month.....3 days of ball (and beverage). Best part is my regular partners ref that tourney and i get to yell at them!!!

Well in 24 hours my season will be done. Even though it will be over, this is the great time of year. A lot of basketball to watch.

Peace

I've got a full 72 hrs left and then I can call it a season too - I think (that darn Arbiter keeps putting more games in it every time I check).

Tonight, I have a local HS vs MS Faculty Fund Raiser game which is always fun.

Tomorrow I do two rec league championship games and on Sunday it's two men's rec league "tournament" games.

Then I believe the wife is dusting off the "honey-do list" again!

Our (MTD, Jr. and I) JrHS/HS season ended this past Wednesday evening. We had both the 7th grade and 8th grade girls' championship games for a league we officiate in in Michigan; blowouts in both games.

The Official Scorekeeper (Home team scorer) in the 7th grade game told us at halftime that officials in Michigan do NOT call three-, five-, and ten-second violations in 7th grade girls games; I had called two Closely Guarded violations against her team (her team was the team betting blown out, ).

The Host school was the Home team in the 8th grade game and they got blown out too. Evidently, Junior and I were homers (we are from Ohio and the two teams are from Michgian, ,) for the Visitors because the foul total in the first half was 9 fouls against the Home team to 0 against the Visitors before Mark finally called a foul against the Visitor's star player; we were told before the game that this player was completely deaf and she proceeded to score 12 pts in the first quarter alone and was at least 7 from 8 from the FT Line in the first half (she was a very good forward both offensively and defensively). The foul totals for the first half was H--14 (the Home fans kept a very loud verbal total; we were suprised that Michigan people could count past 10 without taking their shoes and socks off, LOL, Go Buckeyes!) and V--5. The amazing thing, , is that we never got close to the bonus for either team in the 2nd half (Go figure?).

MTD, Sr.

P.S. Our season ends at the end of the month with the Ohio Special Olympics State Tournament Final Four (two semi-final games, one 3rd place game, and one championship game; all three-man crews), in New Philadelphia, Ohio. There Final Fours in 5 divisions at the State Tournament.

I've got a few Special Olympics Unified Games this coming weekend. A nice way to end my season.

I'm done.

3rd round girls game last night. Season ended earlier than I would've liked, but I had a nice year. Last night's game was 21-12 visitors at half and the home team outscored the visitors 31-9 in the second half to win going away.

Packed gym, nice atmosphere. Nothing much to talk about, to be honest.

Total dates for the year: 58. 7 junior college, 1 varsity reserve, 50 varsity.

Baseball season starts in 13 days with a HS DH.

Everyone enjoy the rest of the season. I'll be moving my basketball stuff to the basement and the baseball stuff up in the next few days.
