I've been done for three weeks but I just finished my paperwork for taxes today so I have game counts in front of me.

I only worked 42 games this last season but I didn't get started until December and only had a few assignments until January and even then I took a week off.

This was a good season for me, though it started rough, I felt I finished fairly strong. I never played basketball above 8th grade rec league so it's taken me some time to get a sense for the game and I feel like I'm progressing along well.

Now I'm looking to go to camp this summer and see if I can break into varsity ball this next season.

I guess I'm officially done as well. I was hoping to get another round of playoff action, but Sunday has come and gone without the notification.

This was my first year doing playoffs and I had 1 boys game that was a 2 point game and second round that was a 5 point game. I also had a first round girls game that was a blowout. So I was very happy with my postseason. Can't wait to get into camps this summer.

I too look forward to a little yard work!
Can I book you in for a little yard work down here?

A busy week

My games are done, but I have a busy week none the less.

I have softball scrimmages on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

On Wednesday, Friday, and maybe Saturday, I'll be watching all my colleagues at the Seigel Center in the State Semis and Finals.

Unfortunately, work still must get done also. That just means that sleep will be in short supply this week. I work the 11PM to 7AM shift.

The brownie points are already banked. Last night was dinner out followed by a performance of the Lion King.

I'm definitely catching up on chores. This weekend was spent working on my officiating paperwork, time with the family and yesterday I sanded my deck and put the first coat of stain on it (what a pain in the butt that was).

The next few weekends have yardwork in the schedule. My wife would never openly admit it, but she enjoys the offseason between March and August.

Nope. I do not want to get hurt. Too much to lose. And I officiate enough already. I cannot imagine playing too.

Peace

Peace
Last actual "game" I played in was several yrs ago in a father/son all-star game. 14yr old player (later went on to be all-league D-linemen) took me out on the endline.

ACL, MCL, Meniscus - buh-bye to my playing days! I'll stick with the stripes from now on!

I'll be 48 this May. I play once/twice a week and most times I'm the oldest player on the court. There was a period of time I stopped playing on the advice of other officials. But playing makes me happy and I'm very careful with what I do when I'm on the court. Since I'm no longer in a position where I NEED the income from officiating if I get injured it would just be an "oh well" moment.
