Still impressive for a commentator to use book language like "point of interruption" even if it's used at the wrong time.

The announcers wouldn't know what they were talking about. They probably got confused since the throw-in for a flagrant is the spot of the foul rather than the division line. It might look like POI to someone who had just learned the term and was looking for an opportunity to use it.

I've got an F1, but wouldn't argue with F2 either.

Play-by-Play detail on ESPN says that after the F1 on Moultrie that Davis for UK shot the FTs. It should have been Jones, correct, since he was the one fouled?

Me neither. What a stupid thing to do.

Correct...which means they got the wrong shooter twice in that game.

I don't think they got the shooter wrong because he signaled a 'T'. They got the foul type wrong.

Was the player charged with a T or F?

Altor Wed Feb 22, 2012 10:34pm

Heck, I don't know. I'm all confused now.

ESPN shows "Foul on Arnett Moultrie".
Fox shows simply "Foul" (though it shows the same for the other technical fouls during the game).
CBS shows "Technical foul on Arnett Moultrie".
The Mississippi State LiveStats shows "MOULTRIE,ARNETT FOUL." and "MOULTRIE,ARNETT FOUL TECH."
The Kentucky play-by-play shows "FOUL by Arnett Moultrie (P2T6)" and "FOUL TECHNCL by Arnett Moultrie".

Any chance the crew really screwed up and declared it a "Flagrant 1 Technical"?

If that were the case, wouldn't you think that UK would have put one of their better FT shooters on the line?

He signaled T. But, after review, the call was a personal...flragrant 1.

I wouldn't either. Either call (a F1 or F2) would've been the right call. Absolutely brain-dead thing to do.

Stat Sheet shows 0 technical fouls called in the game.

Kentucky Wildcats vs Mississippi State Bulldogs - February 21, 2012 - College Basketball - StatSheet.com

Pretty veteran crew on that game to have as many problems on that game as they did it seems.

Also, in the video #3 for Kentucky (Terrance Jones) is the guy who was fouled. #23 committed the foul. Happens at 11:56 in the game log here: Kentucky Wildcats vs Mississippi State Bulldogs Play-by-Play - February 21, 2012 - College Basketball - StatSheet.com
It says Davis shot the FT's. Can't believe they didn't go to the monitor to get it right.
