designated spot after a timeout

After a made basket,Team A inbounds from the end line(A1 to A2). Then Team A's coach ask for a timeout. Now where is the designated spot, End Line or The Division Line or the Point of Interruption.

It's the point of interruption using the throw-in diagram from the official's manual.

If the request comes just as the ball is being inbounded, I'm likely going to allow a throw-in from anywhere along the end line.

Closest To Where The Ball Was ...

Point of interruption.

Is this a trick question?

not a trick Q

I work with people that think as soon as it's inbounded, then the timeout is granted. They designate the spot at the division line. I may have not used the proper term.

Doubt it...the NBA doesn't even advance it to the division line.

The ball goes to the nearest OOB spot, just like it would in any other situation. It makes no diffeence what just happened prior to the timeout being granted.

So you're working just rec association games? Wouldn't surprise me if guys working strictly rec leagues aren't into the rule book. But if the association is doing any scholastic ball no way they shouldn't know this mechanic.
