Suggested rules change
I cannot think of one good reason for not changing the timeout rule to this:
A team gets five timeouts per game, with a maximum of 3 fulls. There is nothing more irritating, and unnecessary, for a coach to call a 30 and then the table signals that they are out of 30s. So we have to make it a full. Why? Makes no sense. If a team wants to call five 30s, why not let them do it. It could easily be a strategic move (make a quick adjustment, but don't want to kill our momentum, etc.). It will keep the games moving--better for everyone. We don't have media or TV considerations. Seriously, someone should suggest this to the NFHS rules committee. |

In my experience coaches know exactly what their timeout situation is. Not something that bothers me at all even when they don't know.

Just change the FED to match the NCAA where as when the team who was granted the time-out is ready the time-out is truncated.
