3-pt. line change?
Has there been a change of distance for the NCAA-W 3 pt. line?
Watching Baylor-Tennessee NCAA-W on ESPN & noticed the 3 pt. line in Knoxville is the NCAA-M 3 pt. line.

The 20' 9" is from the outside edge of the line to the center of the basket. If you want to know the distance from the line to the edge of the rim closest to that part of the 3-point line, it's actually 20' even. (In high school it's 19' 9" to the center of the basket, and 19' to the rim.)
Now that we're talking about distances to the basket for shots, a free throw is not really a 15 footer, it is actually 13' to the front of the rim, and 13' 9" to the center of the hoop. Fifteen feet from the free throw line puts you at the face of the backboard. I think shooters are trying to get the ball in the hole, and not just hit the front of the backboard! |
