Make The Call
What think ye?
From the UNC v. MSU Carrier Game I also apologize for the watermark in the middle.

Thank you Mark Padgett for your always "insightful" take...

After watching to slow motion, I will agree that it is a block. Def player is outside of the restricted area as a secondary defender, but he is still moving into the shooters path as the shooter leaves the floor.

I have a charge. He is there and takes it in the torso. Actually it looks like the contact is before the ball handler gets airborne.
Peace

Agreed. LGP was established early, and the movement is lateral to stay in the way.

Charge.
Defender was in the path with two feet on the floor (outside the RA) and facing the opponent while the opponent still had one foot on the floor.....LGP. Defender was "moving" slightly after the shooter was airborne but not such that they moved into the path...they were already in the path before the shooter was airborne. The movement was irrelevant. The collision would have occurred just the same without it. What is illegal is moving into the path after an opponent is airborne.....movement alone is not. If they are in the path at the time the shooter goes airborne (plus the other stuff required for LGP), they have already obtained LGP.

I have:
A ch... hey wait, I can get an evaluation copy by...sorry. I have a charge, LGP is established well before the shooter goes airborne and once the LGP is established, the defender takes additional side steps which do not remove his LGP.

Yep, PC. The guy got there. He wasn't motionless, but doesn't have to be. The offensive player went through him.
