Maybe this has been covered in a previous post, but oh well. What's up with the new noose lanyards? Why the decision to change from the regular smitty? For anyone that has worn one, aren't they uncomfortable?

Love the noose.
These things are great. They do not move around or out of place. And they do not tuck on your shirt. You do not have to worry about them not fitting on those little loops or having the loop break. I haven't used anything else in two years.
But that is just me. :D Peace |

In Michigan at the college level, some of the assignors have made it a requirement for the officials to wear the neck lanyards. I personally like them over the smitty style lanyards. I think they look a bit more professional. Also, the neck lanyards are required for the useage of the new timing systems that most colleges, and the NBA are using.

1) Which is it? 2) Noose lanyards aren't new. 3) WHat's a loose lanyard? |
Maybe he meant Loose Nanyards?

Maybe he meant moose nards.

Ok So I am an Idiot
Just ask anyone who sits in the stands at one of my games.
Can anyone give me a description of the two type of lanyards that are being discussed? I use the ones that are a "necklace" type with a "thingy" that tightens around my neck. I loop them through the shirt loop, over the neck and then tighten. The other I have seen clips on to the shirt loop. I don't like this one because I have a long neck and the whistle comes up to about my chin, very difficult to blow the whistle at that point! |

Old joke: Q) Why is a giraffe's neck so long? A1) Have you ever smelled a giraffe's feet? A2) Because its head is so far from its body. |
I have broken the loops on my shirt too many times to use the "smitty". I cut those suckers off now and wear the long lanyards.
BTW, have you ever discussed the word "lanyard" with a non-officiating person? They do not have a clue what that word means (most of them). |
