I think asking for help with the interpretation would cut to the chase. Depending on Habram's experience, that may be what is needed at this point.

I agree there's a difference between the literal reading of the rule and how it is usually called. He seemed to be asking about the former (and you need to know the former to understand the latter, and when it should be called.)

So, we should pick and choose the rules we want to enforce. The rules are there for a reason, while I will agree we don't enforce every rule on eveer play, we do rule on ADVANTAGE/DISADVANTAGE and if the shooter gets a rebound because he crossed the vertical plane before the ball hit the rim, you've got to call that the same as you would if someone beyond the 3 point arch broke the plane before the ball hit the rim.
