Question

Does anyone know the appropriate IRS tax forms to fill out to get reimbursed for equipment (shirts, pants, shoes, fees, etc.) costs??? I have already filled out a Schedule C-EZ for my income, but I am confused on how to get reimbursed for equipment costs. In addition, does anyone know the appropriate tax forms to fill out to get reimbursed for mileage??? Thanks.

THe schedule ez includes both income and expenses... so you list gross income and then deduct appropriate expenses off income. Technically you will not be reimbursed its taken off to compute net income.

Would you need to send the IRS the appropriate receipts to justify the deductions??? The reason I ask is the fact that the forms do not ask for any receipts.

No, you do not send them receipts. You simply fill out the porper forms.

If they want to see the receipts, they'll let you know!

the online way

If you use something like turbotax and do your taxes online, you don't even have to worry about which form is the right form. It will be filled out automatically. I heartily recommend this method of doing your taxes. The more complicated (like having a 1099-MISC) your return, the better deal it is to use this.

This was my 3d year using an online tax preparation and I have definitely enjoyed the results.

http://www.turbotax.com is the site I use.

http://www.irs.gov has more acceptable "partners" to use to prepare your return. Check it out. It really is easier, faster, and more accurate.
