This is exactly why the NBA drives me crazy. It has become more of a circus than a game. I don't think this type of announcing has any acceptable place in the game...at any level.
Go to a D-1 college game. Totally professional when it comes to the PA announcer (at least in the ACC). Only says what is needed and let's the game be played without a lot of distraction. |

To borrow the phrase "my two cents".....
I once "put my foot down" on an announcer because, during a JV boys game, when the visiting team was shooting a free throw, the announcer was playing music. I instructed him to cut the music off by the time I bounced the ball to the shooter. He agreed with no problems.

Adressing Announcer
I've addressed announcers before. Usually goes something like this. On a shooting foul the announcer says something along the lines of "#23 at the line shooting a pair". I'll respond with, "No, he's shooting a basketball".
