NCAAW Final Four Conversation

chitter chatter here

I don't think that ND has the horses to stay with UConn. If the Huskies play Stanford in the national championship game it MAY set the record for hte largest blow out, Men's or Women's, in National Championship Game history. I would NOT want to play a motivated UCONN team!!
Having said that, I can see Texas A/M upsetting Stanford b/c the Cardinal are looking past them.

Good Call

While it probably wasn't because the looked passed em, you predicted correctly.

The last four minutes of this game were excellent and the ending was as good as any men's tournament game.

That's a pretty high bar.

and I stand by it.

A&M outscored Stanford 19-8 coming down to the end. It was an excellent final two minutes with several lead changes and great, well executed ball. The final points were scored with A&M scoring with 3.3 seconds left on a full court play (with no TO's left) after Stanford took the lead with 10 seconds left.

Better than Duke/Kentucky? Better than Bryce Drew? I'll take your word for it (watching 1978 Superman with the family; daughter's first time seeing it).

My point of course being that this was an excellent finish - and while many here aren't excited at calling/watching "girls" ball, this was a good one.

I am glad I left my office to watch the last 1:30, it was a great finish. BUT, it did lack an actual buzzer beater, so I can't rank it as high as the Kentucky/Duke game. I will say it would be pretty high up there though in finishes considering it was a final four game.

I'll concede this point.

I don't disagree with this. I enjoy a good girls game, too. I do not, however, get them as often as with boys.

Agreed. That's my experience too.

A buzzer beater is a nice ending, but a defending champion losing in the semi when they've lost only one total game in the last three years is a great ending, no matter WHAT the spread.

Seeing Auriemma literally clutching his hair in both fists was PRICELESS!!

Not that I begrudge them their wins, although I do, but they have earned them. But it's always nice to see such a Goliath fall!

And, btw, there are NO number 1's left in either final. THat's kinda cool. And although "parity" in women's is a long ways from equaling men's, still, none of the women's power teams from the last five years are in the final, and it's the first Final 4 for Texas A & M. So here is a baby step forward in the direction of parity.
