Need some clarification here on 2 points.
A) Is a tip/tap at the basket considered a shot attempt? If so, does that mean that it also constitutes a rebound? Seems to me that it is not a shot attempt unless you make it, like getting fouled and making the shot. Opinions welcomed, though I have been given a lot of those already, and eould really like a rule pointed out etc. 2) What constitutes a Team Rebound? Have no clue on this one.

I'm not sure about number 2, cause as an official I don't keep track of nor report them.

Tip-In:
When an offensive player attempts to tip-in a missed shot, it is currently recorded as both an offensive rebound and a field goal attempt (and often a field goal made as well). Team Rebound: An example of a team rebound would be when the offense shoots the ball, the rebound is not controlled, but goes out of bounds off the offense team. The defense would be credited with a team rebound because each missed shot must have a rebound credited for stats to be officially accurate.

I often get asked those kind of questions and have no clue for a proper answer. Where are the guidelines for keeping basketball statistics? How about BASEball statistics, if you know that one also.

Check the definition portion of the rule books, and I think both basketball and for sure baseball have a specific part on record keeping. The NFHS Publishes a statistics manual, but if you have a specific question feel free to email me

For NCAA, you can access the basketball statistics manual on their website (PDF format). http://www.ncaa.org
