Hey, what kinda hat we talking about here? This aint one of them religious hats, is it??? Can't be wearing no d@mn religious hats on the court, not without...pause for effect...the special letter.

Murmur from the crowd: "Ooooh, the special letter!"

We coaches only allow refs to wear Mickey Mouse hats - gotta be in uniform if you're gonna be on the court.

That is not true Tony. Under NFHS Football Rules, there are many situations that it is illegal to touch a ball or to participate if you touch the ball or if you make a tackle. It all depends on who does it and why they do it. It might not be an out of bounds violation (lack of a better term for this discussion), but it can be penalized on many levels. The question comes from football logic, but unfortunately football logic does not translate to basketball logic in this case. There is not the same distinction for player location in football as it is for basketball. Completely different issues.
Yes, Jeffrey, it is true. We are not discussing many situations. We are discussing a situation where a player goes OOB and is the first to touch it when he returns inbounds. That is the ONLY situation that we are talking about in this thread. We are not talking about illegal participation, or illegal touching. We're simply talking about whether a player can be the first to touch the ball when he re-enters the field of play.

But since you're so knowledgable, why don't you share with the board all the times it is illegal for a football player to touch the ball? We're anxiously waiting! :)

He admitted he was wrong. STOP THE DAMN PRESS!!!!!

Tony,

The whole thread is based on a football rule that does not apply to basketball. I am just doing to you what you require of me, you were not entirely truthful. You admit it, life will go on. I will not go into rules that most would not even understand in the first place. They watch too much Sunday Football, so HS rules are really foreign. Most probably think you cannot touch a receiver after 5 yards.

Peace

True or false, Geoffrey? Under NFHS rules, a player that goes OOB can legally be the first player to touch the ball inbounds.

Feel free to look in your rule book if you need to.

I have a better one. True or false, ask me do I care? ;)

You cared enough to stick your nose into it.

Since you didn't know the answer, I'll give it to you. The answer is true. Now we know why you hate tests, don't we? :)

This is one of the funniest threads I have ever read!

I'm more of a fan of the way some of you post messages than I've ever been.

I don't mean to pry, but you mean me, don't you? You know, it's the fans that make it all worthwhile. That's why I try to keep some real artistic integrity in my posts. I don't like to brag about it, but I've won a Slappy. I know! I couldn't believe it either, it was a total surprise. I was just like, "No way! Ohmygod!"

Oh, but enough about me. What do you think of my tagline?

Hey, you're the wrong JR. I was talking to Juggling Ref, Mr. Smartypants. You obviously have no appreciation for finely-crafted, rambling posts!
