What is funny to me, is that I found this forum while trying to come up with a way to educate fans and youth level coaches about some of the biggest rule misconceptions. Googling basketball rules etc... I came across a link for a thread from this forum "Most misunderstood rules". I started lurking, then joined, and have been addicted ever since.

More than once I have considered directing certain coaches, fans, and fellow officials to this site so that they may gain a greater understanding of the rules. The only thing preventing me from doing so is the fear of too many "fanboys" and other trouble makers causing a disturbance in here.

I had a coach tell me during pregame tonight, that he just recently learned after 12 years as a MS girls HC, that a player can dribble up over their head without violating. I clarified that unless the ball comes to rest it is nothing.

It is amazing what rule myths are out there.
