I do find the sound different. And less capable of BOOMING out a call that needs to be sold.
The sound of a mini is similar to the sound of the casual official with his regular sized Fox 40 coolly placed in the corner of his mouth so only one half of the whistle is really working. Cool, man! Far-out. The full size can easily be tooted quietly. Not to get everyone excited; I know some excellent, very capable veterans that carry their whistle in the corner of their mouths. They can sell a call and yet have made a career out of not needing to sell calls. Just wouldn't recommend that casualness to a new official. Just my somewhat humble opinion,Tony
