I have just come from our monthly meeting and after reminding the other officials about the new "team" control foul the conversation turned to the new rule where a coach could "buy" a timeout to keep an injured player in the game.
What we came up with is this; A1 gets injured and his coach is summoned. After ANY amount of time when the player leaves the court, the ref immediately asks the coach for his sub. If, at that time, the coach requests a timeout or tells the ref that he wishes for A1 to stay in the game, the 60 or 75 second T.O. is granted and A1 may stay in if he is ready to play at the conclusion of the T.O. Feedback would be appreciated.
