I have just come from our monthly meeting and after reminding the other officials about the new "team" control foul the conversation turned to the new rule where a coach could "buy" a timeout to keep an injured player in the game.
What we came up with is this; A1 gets injured and his coach is summoned. After ANY amount of time when the player leaves the court, the ref immediately asks the coach for his sub. If, at that time, the coach requests a timeout or tells the ref that he wishes for A1 to stay in the game, the 60 or 75 second T.O. is granted and A1 may stay in if he is ready to play at the conclusion of the T.O. Feedback would be appreciated.

Question: Where are you that you have a 75 second time out? In most places at the high school level we have full time outs for 60 seconds and 30-second time outs. The 30-sec TO is one perhalf and they do not carry over.

If he's talking about "team control" fouls,FireDoC,he must be using NCAA rules.

True enough. Since most of us are involved at the high school level, I keep forgetting that there is such a thing as the NCAA.

Hey firedoc,

Where are you that you have one 30 second timeout per half with no carryover? In fed rules, there are 2 30 second timeouts per game and you can use both in one half, if you want.

This is correct...also, if the coach has no full t.o.'s left, they may use their 30 sec. t.o. to keep the player in...

Yeah -- but he's also talking about the "new" rule for keeping an injured player in the game. That's not a new rule for NCAA.
