I got my magnetic board from Honigs.
There's a general pre-game on the back.

How about captain's meeting for college women, what is appropriate, are there any guidelines, I didn't see anything in the CCA manual as far as specifics. Other than the typical introductions, keep your teammates under control, listen to us, etc.

I usually get mine at Hickory Farms. I make sure it has lots of beef sausage, cheddar cheese and crackers. After I eat all the food, I save the board for my favorite game - "Swat the Howler Monkey". I'll be glad to post the game rules and instructions.

Just my advice, and not everybody agrees with me, but forget about "keep your teammates under control, listen to us, etc."

My captain's meeting goes like this: "I'm Mr. Elias, this is Mr. U1, that's Mr. U2. [To visitors]Who's your floor captain? [To home]Who's your floor captain? Ok, shake hands. Have a good game."

My theory, which not everyone agrees with (but which I think is obviously true), is that the captains aren't really listening anyway, they aren't going remember what you say in 30 seconds, and they're certainly not going to tell their teammates what you've just discussed. So keep it to the bare minimum and get the game started.

Chuck

Exactly. Most anything else that you say is wasted on them anyway.

Check page 11 of the CCA Officiating Manual...bottom of the page, section C is Captains' Meeting..."the meeting will be for introductions, to request the number of the speaking captains, and a brief explanantion of any questions."

Boy, ain't it the truth!? Game last night, I was u. Partner gave the whole speech -- "no arm bars, no hand-checking, etc etc" I've never seen so many arm bars in a single game. All five players on one team had an arm up the whole game. We kept calling it and calling it and calling it and it did absolutely no good at all. Do you folks ever talk to coaches about stuff like this? We are told not to, so I didn't but I was sure tempted.

I tried this last night. During the half Mr U1 went to his
bag, took out his schedule, looked at me, looked back at the
schedule and asked "Hey! What happened to Dan?"

Captains Meeting

Personally, I don't discuss anything at the captains meeting other than any irregularities with the court. If you stress something, they'll sream during the game "you said..."

I saw a good one at Purchase Officials Supplies. http://www.purchaseofficials.com/index.html. The one on the website has three man coverage.

I have always used the one that I was given by IAABO when I worked in an IAABO state. It has both two and three person coverage and a list of topics you can discuss for pregame. I usually run through the entire list when working with a new official. With an old one, I like to take one of the special topics and talk about one of the topics. Block/Charge, Illegal Screens, etc.
