Two-whistle mirror chop

A partner I respect told me recently that, in a two-whistle game, the T should mirror the chop of L when inbounding in the front court (i.e. under the possession team's basket).

I had not heard this before, nor can I find it in the books. Heard of T mirroring L's chop in 3-whistle but not 2. It's actually confusing at times, thinking T might be holding up play for a sub or whatnot.

Is my carrier pigeon slow on delivering this development or ... ?

I've thought about doing this in situations where it might be tough for the timer to see the L. I don't believe it's a prescribed mechanic, though.

I only do this if we have covered it in the pre-game; otherwise it might be confusing for the L

We went throught this a month or so ago.

It's not in the book.

Some do it anyway.

If you're a rookie, you should follow the standard for your area.

If you're not a rookie, then think about when (if ever) it makes sense for you and for the game you are in (for example, maybe it makes sense on a last-second throw-in when you as T are blocking the table's view and it's important to get the clock started "exactly" on time).

In our section of Rome we've been instructed to mirror. We were told that some of the timers had requested this as it is hard to see the L, especially when L is opposite.

WOW! In 3 person I thought the L cracked his whistle & counted & the T puts their arm up to chop.

In 2 person, if both are chopping in time, whose working off ball to get the push offs, etc?

If I'm trail in 2, it's pretty easy to simply keep my partner's arm in my peripheral vision.

Indeed. We've been instructed to mirror here.

Since when did you guys start doing that?
Must be an area thing...

Actually, we're not. I was just thinking hypothetically. I don't think it would be all that difficult, but we aren't doing it.

Then again, I only did about 4 or 5 2-man games last season, and haven't worked anything this year. So take that for what it's worth.

Ahh so I see. I was wondering, because our board says, if you're chopping at T you better be working a NCAA-W or Pro game.

Get well soon!

In NYS Girls High School the trail mirrors the lead on a front court throw-in with chopping the time in a 2 person crew. We are using NCAA-w rules for our games, not Fed.

How many NCAAW or Pro games are played 2-person?

The mirrored chop is an NFHS 3-person mechanic. No idea what IAABO does.

I'm rather short, so when there is a stack formation I'll give a little tweet with eye contact,to give the table a heads-up to watch as well as they can. I'll tell the thrower to stay put as I back away to a more visible spot, yet maintain good coverage of the play. Once I even rotated with my trail to insure the play would be covered correctly.
