Just remind the coach to be in the bench area. Not seeing why that would be a problem to do that if the coach is a the center circle or somewhere way out of the area. I just do want them across the court with me.

Noting that the bench area defined for timeouts (as BillyMac cited), while not going all the way to center court, is fairly large.

Totally off topic
When I saw the thread title, I was thinking more along the lines of:
1. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say may result in a technical foul... 2. You have the right to have an assistant present...but anything he says may result in him (and you indirectly) receiving a technical foul.... Sorry to hijack the thread, but I couldn't resist ![]() ![]() We now return you to the original topic......

I've had this done to me and I've done it to other officials ... I don't think it's at all belittling if done correctly.
