Our bags were behind the table and the only exit is behind the table. The player jumped right up and made contact within 3 seconds. We had to address the situation then and were stuck there.

What level ball was this? Bags behind the table tells me middle school. But the presence of the visitors' AD indicates high school.

This HS. The schools don't provide locked rooms to change in and keep bags. Most of the time, officials here come dressed for HS. I still bring my change in a bag and hope that there is a clean place to change. Back in AZ, it was expected to have a secure room to change in and be able to get there immediately after horn. Out here in SF, different story.

Wow, that's just asking for trouble.

Call a few Ts for unsporting behavior after the horn and they might start giving you a locker room.

Not to take the conversation off point, but I've had several different experiences as far as leaving the court is concerned.

For freshman games, most of the time we'll have two with limited time in between games, so we're all but forced to stay on the floor in between. Halftimes are usually 5-7 minutes and we're in the back gym, far from the locker room, so we don't bother taking our jackets back there at halftime. That, of course, means we have to go back to the table to grab the jackets after the last game.

For sophomore games, we take the more traditional approach. I really do prefer this, especially in a close game.

One assignor I work for handles I think 5 conferences, and this only happens at his games: After the game, my partner will grab the ball, and we wait at halfcourt for the teams to finish their handshakes, then they'll come over and fist bump us. It doesn't happen all the time, but I'd rather get out of there!

Personally, I would find the time to move your jackets (or have someone do it for you). If it's at all avoidable, I do not want to go to the table after the game is over. It's just asking for troube.

Believe me, I'd love to be able to do that for these freshman games, but often times any game administration people that have keys to the locker room are watching the action in the main gym, leaving students or an adult without keys at the table.

Now that I think about it, they usually have a radio to be able to call a trainer in case of injury. I'll have to start getting a hold of keys via the radio

Makes me appreciate my association even more. That wouldn't fly, here.

We live the life in the back gyms, man...makes me really appreciate getting to work in the main gym, even if it is a 50 point girls sophomore game.

Just a thought. Have you thought about not wearing a jacket for those games? Might solve the problem, but that depends on your Associations view of such action

Good point, I think it's a more than reasonable compromise to make if the school isn't providing adequate facilities and assistance.

Definitely a thought...the perception I've gotten, though, from working around my area is that we should wear jackets all the time.
