On his way down, the gum gets caught in the net and he gets decapitated. The coach of Team A called time-out to try to keep his headless player in the game, but I felt that since he had lost his head he should have to sit until the clock ran. Then I realized that it was cinnamon gum so I called two technical fouls. I used the elastic powers of being the referee to apply the fouls as indirects against the head coach and sent him packing.

Did I get a little too militant? :-)

No - that's the problem with sugarless gum! If you had regular gum, this wouldn't have happened!
