First T - Justified?

Worked my second Boys Varsity game of the year last night. We had a young crew, all three in our 4th - 5th year, working mainly JV but beginning to work more varsity contests this year.

Home coach was unhappy with a 5-second call. He stands up, makes his displeasure known, and at the end of his rant yells: "That's why you guys are JV officials!".

I didn't feel his comments warranted a reaction until the last "JV officials" bit. I issued the T and we moved on. This was my first T issued to a coach, and looking back I think it was the right call, but would like to hear thoughts from the forum.
