Merry Christmas To All ...

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch of their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2:8-11)

It is well and good that we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Let us also celebrate his reason for being born on earth.

Mark 9:7 (New King James Version)
And a cloud came and overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!”

John 14:6 (New King James Version)
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Matthew 26:28 (New King James Version)
For this is My blood of the new[a] covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Matthew 27:50 (New King James Version)
And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.

Matthew 20:17 (New King James Version)
Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’”

Revelation 5:9 (New King James Version)
And they sang a new song, saying:
“ You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,

Accept the true gift of Christmas that was and is freely given. It will change your life and your eternity.

I agree totally - if all we see about Christmas is the birth of a baby we have missed the entire reason why Christ came.

That's right. Mary is the arc of the new covenant and mother of God incarnate. His word became flesh so that we may all be saved.

Thumbs up

A merry Christmas to all my Christian friends. In my house, we celebrate Christmas (my wife) and Hanukkah (me). My kids love it. They get nine days of presents.

If you're interested in an incredibly entertaining "rock" musical video that tells the story of Hanukkah (sort of), here it is.

Celebrate Diversity ...

Excellent greeting! After all, America is a country of immigrants, from diverse religious backgrounds, many who came here because of our religious freedom. Even the Native Americans were immigrants, just a whole lot earlier than most of our ancestors.

I actually had a debate with our former Connecticut governor last week. He believed that "Season's Greetings" and "Happy Holidays" are poor substitutes for "Merry Christmas". I explained to him that I work in a very diverse workplace, with Muslims, and Hindus. I know that my colleagues would certainly not be offended if I were to wish them "Merry Christmas", but such a greeting could border on being slightly rude, knowing that they are not Christians.

I'm as Christian as the next Christian (note my signature), but I'm also quite tolerant, and I celebrate the diversity in this great country.

(I just wish those Jehovah's Witnesses would stop ringing my doorbell.)
