I Hate Snow!

Well after having 2 games this weekend both my game Tuesday and Tonight got cancelled because we just had 2 feet (or more) of snow dumped on us. Hopefully I can get back to the hardwood on Thursday.

I don't miss the snow one bit. The gym was cold last night, though, as it dropped into the 30s at game time and under 30 overnight. No heat in the gym. At least none that I could feel. But we all warmed up as the kid who was blowing into his hands prior to FTs early in the game did not need to do that as we moved deeper into the game.

Usually by now I've lost at least a game or two to weather, but so far I have been lucky. We've only got a foot or so of snow down here in the mountains, but I've seen where Erie and the surrounding areas have gotten pounded with the white stuff. If you're really itching to work a game, come on down!

That's a balk...did you call it?

Schools here closed today due to icy roads. So one of the eight schools in the tourney I was scheduled to work Friday was not allowed to play in the first round tonight. So the whole tourney has been pushed back one day. I don't recall working on a Saturday night during the regular season in the past 10 years.

One of my crew members is attending a funeral in PA. At least he has an extra day to get back now.

Games canceled here both today and tomorrow.

From the weather report:
"Mountain snowfall is expected to be plentiful, with 1 to 2 feet of snow anticipated around Lake Tahoe by late Sunday and 3 to 6 feet above 7,000 feet. Some parts of the Sierra crest could receive up to 10 feet of snow.Heavy snow and winds gusting in excess of 100 mph in the higher elevations could produce blizzard conditions and possible closure of mountain passes Saturday and Sunday. Motorists planning to cross the Sierra over the weekend should consider changing their plans, forecasters said. Officials also urged people to avoid the backcountry due to stormy conditions and a high avalanche hazard."
