Deviate here

I prefer to employ a more scientific method. Count 'em 3 times and then apply standard deviation. This is the method espoused by our resident deviate from Transylvania aka BillyMac.

I actually prefer to start counting at the basket and work my way to the back of the layup lines. The biggest flurry of activity is at the basket. Once I've got that sorted, then the more static lines are easy. YMMV

That is my method, too. Some guys button their shirts from the top and others from the bottom. As long as it evens out, both methods are effective. By counting the further [table side] line first, I can then add those moving over to that line, usually no more than two in the time it takes to count, I can then finish the count on the nearer line before anyone from the other side gets to the back of their new [opposite table] line.

If they are doing the weave, instead of two layup lines, it can get pretty deceptive.

Best. Movie. Ever.

"The funny thing is, on the outside, I was straight as an arrow. I had to come to prison to be a crook."

The ending is fabulous, too. The relationship between pressure and time. Nothing short of brilliant. 1994 was a great year for movies. This one, Gump, and Pulp Fiction were in the running. Gump took the Oscar and PF the Cannes.

So how does Shawshank not get an award? It's just not right.

Among my fav parts are is when, since I'm not into modern secular music, Andy plays the aria (?) over the loudspeaker. Music like that is worth listening to.

I yell "stop" and then count them. When I'm done, I say "carry on" and they do.

Just come up with the sum and divide by five.
