Minus the pants falling down I had the same issues my rookie season. My mentor told me the same thing....whistle stop clock pause then report... just like a wide reciever you cant run before you catch the ball.

I'm a 3rd year, working both some varsity and sub-varsity.

Item #3 reminds me of the advice that I regularly received in my rookie year.
I'm much more patient and deliberate after a few years of experience. You will too.

same here, glad our trainers told us to dress out for our pracice scrimmage! I've dropped 15 lbs. since oct (when i bought my pants ) and had to continually keep my britches pulled up. another trip to the alterations shop fixed it for now .
