Scoreboard Redesign Project

I am a student at Ball State University and I am doing a project to redesign a portable tabletop scoreboard and I would much appreciate it if I could get some personal feedback on my conceptual designs which are on the following image.

• What scoreboard do you think is best (for use of multiple sports, easy to read, appropriate features, portability)?
  
• Of the scoreboard you picked what features do you like and dislike about it?

I don't care much what it looks like, so long as I can easily find the stuff I care about: time, score, team fouls, arrow. But the one thing that is an absolute, must-have requirement...is that you have to be able to hear the stinkin' horn. Really loud. If I can't clearly and unmistakably hear the horn in a gym with a couple hundred people in it, I wouldn't buy it no matter how well designed the rest of it is.

Looking at what's being presented for designs, I like design C.

The time is on one line, the score on another.

It's better not to combine the two in one line like the other designs are setup.

C is the best...long rows like the rest could be hard to read. You could make the time digits a different color to distinguish them from the scores and make the longer panel work.

On C, the TO/Bonus/Arrow lights could be arranged in a much better way. As they are, it is a bit confusing to know which is which unless you make them different colors. Plus, you're much better off with a digit (smaller than the rest) for timeouts as the number needed varies for each sport. With one more bulb on each side, you could easily indicate single/double bonus.

If I were spending money to purchase a scoreboard, I would choose C. It is very easy to quickly find the info. I need (score/time) and also gives me other ancillary info. (timeouts/period).

The other, more linear, scoreboards are harder to read; they give the same info., but it takes me longer to find the info. and it feels like it takes more work...

As a veteran varsity basketball & volleyball scorekeeper I too would prefer choice C. It could be used for volleyball as well as basketball-My only suggestion would be to change the light alignment:I would put 5 lights in a straight line for the timeouts and then to their right on each side Bonus and possesion lights.In volleyball the timeout lights could serve as the score by set.
