Two Plays

NCAA Rules for Both; FED rules for #2:

1) Team A has the ball for a throw-in with 0.3 seconds on the SHOT clock. A2 catches the throw in and then releases a try before the shot clock horn sounds. The ball goes through the basket. Ruling and references?

2) Time expires in the fourth quarter with the game tied. While the teams are in the bench area, A1, who was a Player at the end of the quarter and who has not been replaced by a substitute, disrespectfully addresses an official. A1 is assessed a technical foul. Ruling and references?

How many shot clocks have tenths of a second on them?

True, I don't know if I seen a shot clock display tenths of second.

However, I see what you are saying as 5-1.9 states "game clock." As does, 5-7.4

Fed

A1 is charged with a technical foul, indirect to the HC.

Two free throws to start overtime, ball for throw-in opposite table. AP is set towards A's basket when it's at the disposal of B.

4-32-2
4.32.2 Situation
5.6 Situation

NCAA-M (somewhat a guess)
5-7.7

A1 is charged with a Class A technical foul. 10-5.1a

Two free throws to start overtime. Go POI which is the jump ball.

At least the two in this question.

Is the time between the 4th Quarter and the OT an "intermission?"

I thought that the OT is an extension of the 4th quarter. Thus not an intermission and no indirect 'T' to the HC.

In NCAA, the OT is explicitly "an extension of the second half" -- the same as FED. But, Intermission is defined (4-something) as "between any extra periods."

So, in NCAA, A1 is bench personnel.

I don't recall a specific definition of Intermission in FED

NFHS Case Book play 5.6COMMENT B: If a technical foul occurs after the ball has become dead to end a quarter, the next quarter is started by administering the free throws. This applies even after the first half has ended. It also applies when the foul occurs after the second half has ended, provided the score is tied. If the score is not tied, the free throws are administered unless the outcome of the game will not be affected. If the outcome is not already decided, the free throws are attempted immediately, as if the foul had been a part of the fourth quarter. In this case, if any overtime period is necessary, it will start with a jump ball. the division line throw-in following the technical foul cannot be carried over to the overtome, as the fourth quarter ended with the last free throw. (5-6-4)

I'd use case book play 10.4.1SitB as guidance also and charge the head coach with an indirect "T".

Okay -- now that I have my books: Intermission is NOT defined in rule 4 in FED. It is defined in 5-5-1 and 5-7-1. The time before an OT period is an intermission, and A1 is bench personnel.
