Officials are role models?
I never knew I was one. I guess I was wrong, at least according to these guys.
Why Officials Are Role Models | iHoops |
Good article. It raises a good number of points and topics for discussion.

I didn't see "Take your meds" under the "Referee's Checklist."
You'd think that would be #1 on the list! :D |

Decent article. I am not sure what all of that has to do with being a role-model. That sounds like it has more to do with being a good official. I always think parents and coaches play a bigger role for kids as they do not look to us for guidance in most things. We are authority figures they hardly know.

Did anyone watch the other videos than the one that is at the start of the page?
The reason I asked I am watching this about commending players, communicating with coaches. These are many things I would not do or not stop play to do. I have no problem with the comments of the girls on the floor and they called a jump ball, but not telling the player about a good throw-in. That to me goes a little far. I really did not like how the official stopped what he was doing to talk to a coach which appears to be about another official's call. Peace |

Blue shoots and misses. White rebounds. Official stops the game to warn a blue player about the lane.
I don't find this acceptable at any level. |

The taller white guy's visible count mechanic looks like the foul-tip signal in baseball.
