First Time: 9-2-6 violation

For the first time in my many years of officiating I observed a violation of 9-2-6 take place in a game.

A1 is making a throw-in from the 28' mark in the frontcourt. She throws a lob pass which strikes the ring and rebounds over the heads of all other players back towards her. A1 stepped inbounds and caught the ball after it took one bounce in the court.

3-person crew: Trail froze, so I whistled it from Lead.

This violation can't be common. Made me wonder how many others have had it happen.

Nevada,
Had it happen this past weekend on a penalty kick. Oh, wrong forum, never mind.

I've had it happen in a JV game. Endline throwin, A1 throws it in just as A2 bolts the other way. A1 grabbed it before B1 could get an easy layup.

Now that you bring that up, strangely I had this happen for the first time on a CORNER KICK a couple of months ago in Vegas. Off the near post and straight back to the kicker.

Unusual stuff for me this summer.

Actually, it was the weekend prior to you coming out. Had I been able to come down to Vegas when you were there, we certainly would have met up.

Weird, this came up tonight but differently. After I called a 5 second throwin violation, the thrower asked me if she waited for it to bounce twice, could she then pick up her throw.
