Wasn't aware of Rolando, but Michael Harper is the guy. He's now an insurance agent here in Portland. BTW - Harper once donated an autographed game-worn jersey to a fundraising auction for a non-profit here and I bought it at the auction and gave it to my son. A few years later, he wore it to a Blazer Alumni Team game in which Harper was playing. Harper saw him with the jersey on and called him out to the floor to shoot two free throws for him during the game. My kid made both of them and the place went nuts. Harper and some of the other ex-Blazers high fived him. My son still talks about it every so often.
As to Bret Saberhagen, I was told he attended my school only for his freshman year, then moved. I don't know if that's accurate or not. Recently, I emailed Jim Bouton and he said the thing he liked most about our HS was the great sports programs and the think he liked least was the huge number of kids. In those days, we usually had about 4000 attending. My graduating class had 712 (I was the youngest). Here's a link to my class website, in case you're really bored and have nothing to do. It's developed and managed by one of my former classmates whose company makes computer simulated war games for the US military. Cool! The website is full of stuff from the 60s. Also cool! Here are three rather regional ones:
1. Who were the first two big name recruits to be Prop 48 casualties? (They went to the same University) 2. Who was shooting the free throw when Coach Knight "loaned the old lady across the floor" his chair? (or threw the chair, depending on who tells the story!) 3. What school did Shawn Kemp originally sign with ? |

#2 is Purdue's Steve Reid. #3 Is Kentucky. He had that incident with the accusation of stealing gold chains from Coach Sutton's son. For #1 do you want just basketball players? I recall that future Heisman Trophy winner Andre Ware was ineligible due to Prop 48 in his first year at Houston. Last edited by Nevadaref; Tue Apr 27, 2010 at 10:50pm. |

Close. It was a Cavalier Z24. The reason I remeber that is b/c I was always curious how he FIT into the car? I also just assumed the UK boosters hadn't had his REAL car delivered yet!!
As for the other on, they were Rumeal Robinson and Terry Mills from the University of Michigan. Robinson actually had dyslexia and at the time there were no accomodations for that in the regulations. |

What television basketball commentator got fired from a major network for "being too detailed" in his comments?
IOW - he got into too much depth when explaining what was going on and why. Hint - it was an NBA commentator.
