OT - NBE comment

Saw on ESPN that Juwan Howard had his third game without being called for any fouls in less than 30 days. When a reporter told him this last night after the game, he commented, "Yeah, I had a talk with the referees before the game." He then laughed and said he was only kidding.

One thing the ESPN guys mentioned was a reminder that Wilt Chamberlain never fouled out of an NBE game in his entire career. A truly amazing stat.

It's those Brits. Lots of them have girls names.

BTW - the pic of the three Howards was really "fine". Pun intended.

Did you know that Curly actually played basketball in HS? I read it in a Stooges biography. I wonder if he ever complained about a call by telling the ref "NYUK NYUK NYUK"?

Larry was good on the violin. Would have been handy for him to be seated behind a coach.

Here's another. Chamberlain never fouled out, but was ejected a few times. One season, he was ejected in the fourth quarter with (not looking, trusting memory, this is big time trivia knowledge) 8:33 remaining. Chamberlain was also famous for playing huge amounts of minutes. That 8:33 was the only time all season he was not on the floor for his team.

Wilt was obsessed with this streak. If he ever got to 5 fouls he'd basically stop playing defense. Just another thing Russell would use to advantage, get Wilt to 4 fouls, then draw that 5th one because Wilt would shut it down after that.

He never fouled out of a HS or college game either. I don't think its something history should look back on and say "wow, what a great player".
