Question What would you do - part 9,123

NF rules. Assistant coach warming up with his team prior to the game starting - rebounding layups, etc. He then dunks the ball. Anything? Do you treat this the same as if it was a player?

He's bench personnel... how does that factor in?

And your math is slightly off, this is only part 9121.

Assistant coach dunking? With the coaches around here, I'd let it go, more due to the fact I'd be utterly shocked and amazed!

This was a kids rec game and the assistant coach is a HS player.

Well in that case, I'd grab a ball and throw an alley. Get the players and fans on my side to begin the game.

Direct technical foul charged to the assistant coach and an indirect "T"" charged to the head coach(who is seatbelted).

Is punting and playing defense an option here?

You might be able to justify that under 10-4-1, but certainly not by 10-3-3 as the assistant coach is not a team member.

If this happens at a kids rec game, there are two realistic options.

Applaud it with the rest of the fans.

Discreetly inform the young man that this is not the proper venue.

"Not now, Dominique."

That's where I'm going.

"Son, please don't do that."
