I didn't think this signal was unauthorized:

2.7.8 - "However, it is necessary to signal [two points for a field-goal] in cases of doubt or confusion and when point(s) are awarded.

Something like this is definately a case of doubt and and confusion.

HOLY COW!!! Oh, dear, I hope there aren't any Hindus out there, I'm sorry, I take it back! If you said "Jesus Christ!" in the same situation, I'd be offended, so I take it back, and I'll never do it again.

WOWIE-ZOWIE!! What Mark Dexter referred to is in the Rule Book!?!?!?!?! Howard, are you listening??

I've been dinged for signalling 2 points on an almost-3 any number of times. I think it makes perfect sense, but the higher-ups in my association don't agree.

My rule books are lost (stolen out of my car during a game!) but when I get the new ones, I will be a-lookin'!!

Where you have to be careful, of course, is what your supervisor's definition of "doubt or confusion" is.
