I was able to make it to the game; however, I had to get a ride home (40 miles) as it cracked my radiator and all the fluid had leaked out.

It was an interesting night to say the least.

You didn't have an extra car in your bag?

This made me start thinking so i sat down and added all of my games so after all of that work I might as well post it here as well:

From beginning of season. Includes scrimmages and tournaments. (Also includes games this weekend.)

160 games total

6- JVB
2- 8G
8- 8B
6- 9B
23- VB
29- VG
39- Biddy
19- 9-10 (girls and boys comp rec games)
9- 13-14 (boys comp rec games)
1- 15-17 (Boys Parish championship)
2- 7B
19- MS
1- 4A VG Playoff game

4 Technicals
1 - VG HC
1 - VG AC
1 - 9-10B AC
1 - 13-14B player

Ejected 1 fan for pointing at me and telling me that he's going to show me what a foul is. (took as a threat, guy seemed drunk)

VG AC that received T from me ended up getting 2nd from my partner and was ejected. Apparently we were sad sacks of sh*t and she wouldn't be saying anything if we called some f****** fouls. (our assignor was working the clock and asked why we didn't throw her out sooner.....)

Equipment purchased:

1 shirt
1 pair of pants
2 whistles
1 smitty lanyard
1 Jacket
Enough powerade to warrant at least a few shares of Coca-Cola stock...

Highest game fee = $78
Lowest game fee = $15
Average game fee = $30-$40

Total sum: $not sure yet

Furthest travel = 70 miles (playoff game)
Shortest travel = 2 miles (school by my house)

Used the same whistle and lanyard all year except for 3 afternoon games. Did morning games that day and had whistle in pocket and left it on my desk at home.

Partners ranged from the guy with the football referee shirt and white socks with a pea whistle to guy that does some SEC and ACC ball.

Had a great year and learned an awful lot. I learn something new every game. Which is a good thing but if what I am learning are rules every game, not so much. Luckily though, not the case.

Doing my first playoff game was an experience and I had a freakin' blast! Hopefully I get lucky and can get another before the year is over. In Louisiana you go to different areas of the state for the first couple of rounds of the playoffs so we got to go about 70 miles away for two teams we hadn't seen all year. I hadn't even heard of one of the schools before.

Lots of AAU and spring/summer leagues around here so hopefully I'll have games through June or so. I look forward to going to my first camp and can't wait for next year.

And thanks to all of you guys on this forum. I've actually learned a rule here and then had a situation the next night happen that applies to what I had learned the night before. What would I do without you all? ;)

Actually... that is one thing I don't have. Then again, I never really thought about it. Ahhhh what the heck, I'll look into it for next year. :D

34 Varsity dates, most B/G double headers
24 JUCO women's dates
1 Freshman Double header to help out a great AD.
89 total games

8 technicals, 5 high school (2 players, 3 coaches), 3 college (2 players, 1 coach)

1 bad screw up losing the shooter on an off ball call while the ball was in the air.

I'll only be thinking about 1 of the aforementioned during the off season. :D

Just got a regional JUCO tourney game (3rd time out of the 4 years I've been in the league). So that rounds out my totals to 25 JUCO dates and 90 total games. I'm pretty pleased with the assignment.

Do you indicate that there are no reporters present and that nothing will get printed in the local paper at the captains meeting?

Is That All There Is ??? Is That All There Is ???

If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing.
Let's break out the booze and have a ball.
If that's all there is.

I started working on my 2009 taxes and peeked ahead to 2010. Pretty quiet 2009-10 basketball season for me. Forty-three games, from fifth and sixth grade Catholic middle school "junior varsity" games, up to boys and girls high school, and prep school, varsity games. Mark Padgett would do that many games in one weekend, blindfolded, with his hands tied behind his back. I made up the hands tied behind his back part. The coaches he worked for told me about the blindfolded part.

I've got Special Olympics Unified Games in a few weeks, and then I'm done with winter basketball. I may do some AAU games in the spring and summer.

The party's over
It's time to call it a day
They've burst your pretty balloon
And taken the moon away
