I've got nothing. Offensive player was not put at a disadvantage, and the defender tried to reach in to defect the ball and got his nose in where it shouldn't have been and paid the price.

I agree with the official on the floor; no call.

I must have seen a different play at the 6:15 mark.

1) I wish you had just downloaded a about a minute on each side of the contact in question.

2) Do you mean the play where W1 dribbled along the endline and G2 came over to take away the endline from W1, or

3) Do you mean the contact between W2 and G2 as G2 dribbled down the court after (2)?

From what I could see, there was no contact in (2) and it was a charging foul by G2 in the (3).

P.S. This call was a no brainer. I would have expected my student athletes to get the call correct by the end of their first season of officiating. W2 had established (NCAA Men's/Women's & FIBA)/obtained (NFHS) a LGP. W2 legally moved to maintain his LGP and G2 literally ran him over.

I would've called the same thing as those officials did on the court. I guess I have no brain.

Mark, This was a feed from the MHSAA. I could not figure a way to edit and post only the specific section. I was referring to the play #3. I saw a charge on G.

I saw some incidental contact on #2, but I agree; no call on #2 and charge on #3.

I see the defender reach in with his right hand to deflect the ball from the dribbler (6:16 mark to be exact). Happens pretty much right at the 3-point arc(s).

How do you call a charge in this play, when the defender is attempting to steal the ball and not necessarily just moving with the dribbler to maintain LGP.

When he reaches towards the ball, his whole body moves towards the player, and that includes the defender's face. You see the defender reach for his mouth after the contact? He took a decent pop. If he's not leaning in towards the dribbler, I don't see the same amount of contact occuring on that play....JMO

Sure, he reached, but that's not illegal. His body is moving sideways and backwards, so all the reach does is slow that movement down. The defender is perfectly legal when he gets plowed.
If anything, you may have a no-call if you think he embellished the contact.

That's what I have, plus the fact that the dribbler had diverted away from the defender in what was more of a glancing contact than direct.

If someone in authority mandates that a foul has to be called, it's Team A's foul. I believe the correct call was made on the court.
