Btw, are they the actual 2009-2010 books? I thought the Fed. was only printing books every 2 years? Or is the IHSA only sending us books every 2 years? |

You can download the new books at the NFHS website (if you're a member). Eventually that will be the only way to get them. |

No the IHSA wanted to save expenses and just mail them out bi-yearly. And the NF is thinking seriously about not having rules changes except for every 2 years anyway. The NF is still producing books, but look at the changes we have had this year? We have one change and we are not even using the change in Illinois anyway. Peace |
Just ran a program to compare last years rule book to this years (gotta love having the books in PDF format).
The only other differences I found were the change in term from bench area to time out area, and a clarification in rule 4-19-13: ART. 13 . . . A team foul is any personal foul or technical foul (except indirect technical fouls) which is charged to either team. All team fouls are counted to reach the bonus free throw. They added the part about indirects. |

The only change I noted in the comparison is that "Horn", "The final horn sounds", etc is changed to "signal", "Expiration of time", etc to align with the addition of the rules change concerning the use of an LED light for the expiration of time. "1-14; 5-6-2 When a red light behind the backboard or an LED light on the backboard is present, it is permitted to signal the expiration of time in the quarter/extra period. If no red/LED light is present, the audible timer’s signal will continue to signal the expiration of time." Learned something new today. I didn't realize that Adobe had the feature to compare documents. Too bad it doesn't do it well for "secured documents". Had to work around that feature -Josh |
