IAABO not using new fed FT mechaninc

I know it's been discussed about some state associations not using the new table side mechanic but we found out last night that the Ontario association as well as IAABO are NOT using the new fed mechanic ( trail goes table side, no switch if trail calls shooting foul etc).

What are your thoughts on this? I thought it was a silly mechanic in the first place.

I think its smart. Why do you want the calling official near the coach? I see problems being created because of the new mechanic. That said, I live in a non-IAABO state. I will do whatever they state association adopts.

Why should the official run away from the coach? Lack of communication skills?

Sounds good to me, I hope we follow suit as well!

Although I have no problem communicating with coaches, I thought it would be most odd to administer FTs at the Lead position. One night doing 3 person it would be administer & butts to the bench, the next night it could be just the opposite.

I find it amusing that for *years* we had the "you gotta switch on every foul" mantra and now, well, I guess we don't have to. I do know I've done my last long switch 2-person.

I've done 2 games now using table side mechanics, no problems at all. Sometimes change is good just to keep your head in the game.

I think you'll find the mechanic not to be such a big issue. I know we've been using the mechanic in Texas and in our association and haven't had many problems with it.

I just didn't see the need for the change in the first place.

I'm glad in Ontario we decided against it. I tried it at a camp and it was ok- it didn't really matter much to me, but it just seemed pointless.

I did not know that Michigan *officially* approved the mechanic.

Where did you get that approval?
Thanks.

I don't think it is a big deal. Let's say there is a mechanics change that everyone wants. Would it be hard to add that to your game? I didn't think so; this shouldn't be a problem either.

IAABO is a middle-man that gets paid by adding something on top in the name of training. They say this (in my experience) as if every association that isn't IAABO doesn't train. BS
