Just like the men.......

I was watching the baseball game tonight and they cut in to show the end of the first women's semifinal. On the last second shot there was a travel you could see from the parking lot.

Talking

I thought you were going to be upset that Courtney Paris is going to have to give back her scholarship.

Peace

None of the men would be crazy enough to make a promise like that..............

and then really crazy enough to keep it, which she said she intends to do.

We'll see.

This could be the inspiration for a new signature line:

"Not a dime back."

That one wasn't nearly as bad as the one they missed in the first few minutes of the game. It was at least 4 steps, maybe 5. I wouldn't have signalled travel, I'd have signalled marathon.

I thought it was a crazy promise to make as well. It reminds me of Celebrity Apprentice Sunday night. One woman volunteered to support Melissa Rivers, her product manager by going back into the boardroom. Just by doing that, Trump fired her. "Never volunteer for execution."

If she gives back her scholarship, they'll probably just give her a different one.

I'm not sure that is a true statement.

She took a bunch of quick, choppy steps just prior to receiving the pass, but once she caught the ball she may have had only one foot one the floor and then executed a good jump stop by jumping off of that foot and landing on two followed by going up for the try.

I haven't seen it is slow motion and picked it apart yet though.
It looked odd, but I'm not convinced that it was illegal.

She received the ball with at least the right foot, possibly both feet, on the floor.
She stepped out with the left foot, then hopped and landed on both feet.
Almost brought me up out of my chair.

Paris 'give back' prediction:

Post graduation, after signing pro contract, setting up a scholarship program to the school in the 'amount' of her scholarship.

ps. obviously the girls' dad was a large man, but I met their mom once -- she looked like she could suit up and play at a high level.

Exactly. Legal move at all levels. Jumped off one foot, landed on two and released the try.
Those officials would have been absolutely killed in post game if it went in, not because of that great no call, but because the rebounder stepped out of bounds before making the outlet pass.

Not as I read what was written...
  1. Caught it with one or both feet on the floor.
  2. Steps with one foot (which establishes the pivot foot).
  3. Hops (ok so far)
  4. Lands on both
THe player is OK to #3, but since the pivot was established by the step in #2, a player can no longer execute a jump stop at all. Travel when either foot lands after #3.

If #2 happened to also be OOB, that is a different issue.

I was wondering what the heck they were talking about when they were interviewing her. Obviously, I figured she made some kind of guarantee but I couldn't figure out the somewhat odd ball figure of $60,000.

$16,000 a year for 4 years was the amount of her scholarship.

I really wasn't reading what was written - sorry. I was going on what actually happened as I watched it. I saw it back at least 5 times and it was legal. The out of bounds was a whole other story. I was also a little surprised to see the other crew not on this game.
