I would like to know what happened to prompt a POE on this subject. Was there a pregame fight somewhere?

I don't know that there's ever been a fight, but there have been "skirmishes". I can't provide the details, but I've read about a couple over the past year or so.

It's too bad we have to legislate good sportsmanship, but apparently we do.

incident- almost

I had a game last year where the home team ran to center court to meet right after intro's. They were on there hands and knee's with there heads down doing some chant. then...... The visiting team came and circled the home team while putting there hands on their teamates shoulders and swaying back and forth. My partner and i stepped in to make sure that nothing happend. Nothing did' but if the home team would have gotten up to go to the bench... I really don't think that the visiting team would have let them get out of their circle. Could have gotten ugly.

That's the type of thing that I've seen. The visiting team encircles the home team's center court mascot painting, their arms over the teammates shoulders, then perform a dance complete with chant on the mascot painting. Sooner or later, a fight is going to break out from somethinglike this.

It's similiar to the 49ers' Terrell Owens spiking the ball on the 50 yard line star at Texas Stadium, during a Monday night game, a couple of years ago. it didn't take long for that to get out of hand.
