Did anyone see the judo flip on the OU player?

I don't know anything other than what I saw, which was only a few second clip of the game. The two players were apparently tangled up and the OU player trying to break free. They were in the (now) backcourt and the opposing player (don't remember the team) takes Blake Griffin's arm and does a body flip! I've never seen anything like it short of pro wrestling.

The replay didn't show what happened after that. The officials stopped play for what I assume was a foul call, but I don't know what they called. Based upon just seeing the flip, would anyone NOT call a flagrant foul on this?

They immediately ejected the Morgan State player.

Griffin later went to the bench and fell to his back in pain.

I only saw the replay as they have us watching Illinois get beat down by Western Kentucky (hee hee ). Looked like a good call by the officials.

Peace

I'm sure it was out of frustration but it was still ridiculous. To his credit, Blake got up and walked away. This isn't the first time this year an opponent has come after him. Griffin and Hansbrough seem to both get a lot of this type of crap. They're both so physical and tenacious, other players get frustrated and do stupid stuff.

Looked similar to the Thabeet-Blair play earlier. This one looked flagrant rather than incidental

At least the Thabeet-Blair play, the players were fighting over the ball. These players were not near the ball and the player that flipped over Blake did a completely unnatural motion as it related to the game and situation.

Peace

Second ejection of the night in KC!

#34 for Morgan St. had already been talked to about rough play. He had picked up 3 fouls in less than 5 minutes of play. He was sent in due to foul trouble on the other two bigs.

IMO, Blake initiates alot of what happens to him. He is good at it too. He will take plenty of chances to get chucks and arm bars. He is strong enough to not let it show. Then the retaliation comes and they are not nearly as good as he is at it.

BTW, He did not just walk away and say nothing. He was screaming at the guy on the other end. THe cameras did not show that. He had a few finger points etc.

i have #34 two points for the take down though!

Clearly a flagrant call, no doubt.

But, it seems on this one they could have blown the whistle sooner and avoided an ejection and a potential serious injury. Both players had been tangled for several steps with plenty of contact before the WWF move happened.

I only saw the replay, and I am missing context. Maybe they really were tangled up and the refs were letting them get untangled.

Devil's Advocate

I did not see the play live; I have only seen replays of the play in question. I would also like to make full disclosure: I am a Kansas fan and not an Oklahoma fan but that does not have any bearing on my response below.

What did I see? I saw B1 (Oklahoma player) behind A1 (Morgan player) and facing A1's back when their arms became entangled and A1 attempted to untangle his arm from B1's arm. Yes it looked bad but A1 was had a more advantagous position that B1. At best this could have been incidental contact that looked bad or a common foul that looked bad by B1.

That has to be the funniest post of the year.

There is no chance that A1 doesn't get some sort of foul on this play. A1 most definitely was not trying to untangle his arms. He held onto B1's arms, bent over using his body as a lever and catapulted B1 over him onto the floor.

I would like to think that you just forgot to use the blue font, but something tells me you're serious.

You must have seen a different play. I agree with Camron. B1's arms are straight up. How do you get your arms tangled with an opponent wh's arms are straight up?

B1 bent his elbow, held onto A1's arm by doing so and body flipped him. Not only should he have been ejected, he should be suspended the first game next year, if he's not a senior.

this could have been incidental contact
This is CRAZY. If you had said that it was intentional but not necessarily flagrant, I could understand. I strongly disagree, but I could see a point being made. Cam and BBR are correct.

Take another look at it.
