To say any sport is the worst when your perspective of that sport is only as a fan is not very credible.
I was "shot down"? Others didn't agree with my opinions about calls in the Super Bowl. I guess if that means I was shot down then so be it.

Then he gets on his high horse about Bobby Knight and suggest he is clueless in the sport he officiating. But then goes on rants about a sport he does not officiate.

Peace

By shot down, I simply mean they informed you how the calls, while perhaps debatable, were not awful. Who do you think I should give credence to, one or two guys who don't officiate football telling me football officials are the worst of the major sports, or football officials who tell me the calls the first guy bases his opinion on aren't that bad?

And the irony completely escapes him.

No, just football officials.

I was a line judge in high school for our volleyball games. I was also a side judge (or something like that) for soccer while in college.

I've done it, but you won't see me claiming anything about soccer or volleyball officiating; because I don't know nearly enough to do it.

BTW, I'm not particularly proud of my association with metric football.

If you said the most difficult to call, you might maintain some credibility.

Youth level. I never claimed to be a great football official, but I have been around it enough and played it at a high enough level to know quite a bit about it.

I don't know if it's the most difficult to call. I think basketball is probably the most difficult out of the three major sports. I think baseball is the best officiated, followed by basketball, then football. Baseball is also probably the easiest of the three though.

I don't know if this is true at all, but are NFL officials as a whole older than those in other professional sports? Does it usually take longer to move up in football so even the "newer" NFL guys are older on average?

The game maybe. The rules and philosophies? Not so much.

We've already been over this, but I'll say it again: A lot of the stuff I was talking about wasn't because of rules knowledge or lack thereof.

Your lack of understanding of what constitutes both holding and pass interference would indicate otherwise.

OK, I'm done tilting at windmills.
