Make eye contact with your partner(s) before blowing the whistle to see if they can give any help (the "tipped ball" signal if they know the defense touched it last, or a nod of the head or a subtle backcourt violation signal if they knwo the offense touched it last).

I was able to do that and he did not give any signal. I believe he would've given the tip signal had the defense been the last to touch. That was another reason I called it.

It was more of an educated guess now that I think of it...

This is the one backcourt violation that the lead can/should call....

The ball is coming from a point that is clearly in the lead's primary where it is last touched by A and is otherwise clearly untouched before it goes into the backcourt where only team A is near the ball when it is retrieved.

I will thank my lead for making that call as they're the only one who could have all the necessarily info.

My thought was I'm going to call it a backcourt violation. If I'm wrong, my partner and I can get together and we can rule an IW and get it back in play.

Any other thoughts or suggestions?
If you don't know, you should not have a whistle. Let it go and play on.
