Question Rule Citation - Throw-in goes out-of-bounds

Looking for a rule/case book citation for the following situation:
A1 throws an in-bounds pass on a throw-in that does not touch another player and the ball goes directly out-of-bounds. The ball is then awarded to Team B for a throw-in at the original spot.
1)Is this correct?
2) If so, please cite rule/case book references. If not, what is the correct ruling (also citing rule/case book references).

PENALTY: (Section 2) The ball becomes dead when the violation or technical

You can remember this by noting that it's the inbounder's responsibity to throw the ball so that it's touched by another player.

The inbounder violated, so the violation spot is the spot of the original throw-in.

However, the player does not have to be in bounds for the throw in to be legal. If the ball was lobbed over a players head and bounced in bounds, and the player giving chase tried to save it but the player was out of bounds when he/she touched the ball, the throw in is legal and the ball is awarded out of bounds where the player tried (but failed) to save it.

9-2-2:The ball shall be passed by the thrower directly into the court from
out-of-bounds so it touches or is touched by another player (inbounds or out of bounds) on the court before going out of bounds untouched.
