There is no foul or violation called on any player. Under what circumstance(s) could the official rule only two points should be credited?

You say "takes a jump shot". I say, was it a try? If not, two points for the other team as the jump shot was at the wrong basket.

Then what does "The ball goes in the correct basket" mean?

It doesn't matter if it was a try or not. A thrown ball also counts as three if it goes in the correct basket.

Well, it certainly is beautiful here and a different kind of beauty here in Shishmaref with rolling tundra hills and no trees. Very basketball hungry state and community. The flag interestingly enough was designed by a 13 year old. Very interesting story (http://www.netstate.com/states/symb/flags/ak_flag.htm). Come and visit someday, you won't regret it.
