Technicals during Playoffs

I've had to call alot of tech's this season (lots of kids swearing at me, one accused me of cheating).

I was wondering since our playoffs start tonight, are you all willing to take a little more from the players since their emotions are running a bit higher?

Or is it business as usual?

In the playoffs, I don't want to decide a game with my whistle, the team that plays better should win.

Thoughts?

Don't change a thing in that regard. The team that stays focussed should win; and swearing at an official or accusing him of cheating is losing focus. If you don't call this, you're contributing to the game.

I am willing to understand that players, coaches and even fan's emotions are going to be higher. I am not willing to be disrespected or willing to pass on obvious violations of the rules. I might do a few more things to make a point without a T, but if it is done in the middle of God and country, too bad for them. You have to do what you have to do. You are not deciding the game by doing your job.

Peace

Understand the importance of the game, but remember you are there to do your job.

I got into some trouble by giving a coach too much rope in a District final one year. In retrospect he should have received a technical in the first half (at half time our crew discovered that all three of us had warned him separately in the first half) we all were trying to give him a little extra leeway because of the importance of the game.

Fast forward to last minute of two point game, I'm trail going to lead and literally run into him while he is out on the court at the mid-court stripe yelling about a call on the other end. Now I have no choice but to T him up. Two free throws and ball for the opponent; the two point game is now a 6 point game.

Situation would/could have been prevented if we had communicated the warnings and given him a deserved tech in the first half -- instead of three warnings.
