Jump Ball violation
Same game as the previous thread (FIBA rules, 2 person)...
White (home) & Green (visitors), I am the R, I step to adminster the Jump ball, toss the ball, we had a white tap, a green tap and then the white jumper caught the ball. I looked at partner, he had the deer-in-headlights look, it was pretty obvious he had no idea that this was a violation. My whistle goes in my mouth and I blow it dead and award the ball to green and set the arrow to white and carry on. I've been officiating for 17 seasons and haven't seen this violation in a long time, so of seeing as we have just recently gone back to FIBA rules we took an educated guess as to who should get the arrow. Fortunately, we did get in right. This was confirmed by the principal at the school we were at who just happens to be a recently retired FIBA-carded official. I'm wondering if the NFHS / NCAA is the same or does the team who violated lose the ball and the right to the 1st possesion? Cheers! |
