Sequence for excess time out
Team A requests an excess time out. They are still allowed the time out. What is the correct reporting procedure and administrative procedure?
I would propose this, but if there are other opinions, I'd like to know: Since the Team T is for "requesting" (and not the granting) the excess time out, I'd say that the T and its administration occur first. So report the timeout, and the scorer will let you know that they have 0 TOs remaining. Then you signal the T and report it as a Team T. Next you go get the FT shooter from B coach. As B1 is shoting, be sure that bench personnel besides HCs are still on the bench because the timeout has not started yet. After the FTs, instruct the timer to start the 60 second timer for the full time out. Following the TO, give B a throw-in at the division line, opposite the table. Any other ideas? |

I would handle differently.
Quote:
Inform both coaches that a technical foul will be assessed coming out of the time out. At the end of the time out, whistle and signal the Team Technical. Get a Team B player or elig. sub to shoot the FTs. Team B ball at division line and go.

Much, if not all, of the rulings in Fedlandia are done in order of occurance. Since the TO request happened before the T, allow the TO to happen first, then penalize with the T.
